Waterford police investigating cigarette and liquor theft

Waterford police have asked for public assistance in finding two men accused of stealing a large amount of cigarettes and liquor from a liquor store about two weeks ago. The theft occurred around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 12 — a Friday night — at the Plaza Liquor and Wine Shop, 4265 Dixie, but police did not release any information about the crime until Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the store on a suspicious circumstances complaint and found glass broken out of the front door. Video surveillance showed two men breaking the glass before stealing a large amount of Newport cigarettes and half-pint bottles of Bacardi.

Both suspects are white men in their late teens to early 20s. One man was wearing a black coat with red sleeves and a black baseball hat with a red bill. The second suspect was wearing a black coat with white letting on the back, a red shirt under the coat and blue jeans.
