A Houston man was transferred from Harris County Jail to McLennan County Tuesday after he was arrested on a warrant in connection with the 2011 theft of more than $500,000 worth of cigarettes.
Aaron Sunmer Miller, 32, was arrested while he was being held in the Harris County Jail on a parole violation based upon a warrant issued by Waco police last November.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said on Nov. 11, 2011, thieves broke into the A-to-Z Warehouse, on South Interstate 35, and stole cases of cartons of cigarettes valued at $602,000.
The thieves loaded the cigarettes into a van, which they also took during the burglary.
Waco police found the stolen van the next day behind a business on Hewitt Drive.
The Waco municipal court issued a warrant for Miller after detectives completed their investigation.
Four other men believed to have been involved in the theft have not been apprehended, Swanton said.
Miller was transferred back to McLennan County Tuesday and booked into the jail at about 6 p.m.
He was awaiting arraignment Wednesday morning on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity and a bond.
