Tourism and Tobacco Boost Craftsmanship in Cuba

Mercy Correa, director of the National Handicraft Center of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets (FCBC) declared to Prensa Latina the development of tourism in Cuba over the past two decades is reflected in the explosion of manufacture productions with artistic value. The FCBC specialist noted about the job of Grupo Cuba (Cuban Group) settled in Pinar del Rio (western region of Cuba) that does wonders for tobacco cases, snuff and humidors, considered jewels of the national handicrafts.

 In respect to the system of commercial fairs promoted by its institution she announced a new space by mid July, Art in Sanaloa Tent, to be held in the old airport of Varadero. The hallmark will be the trade of necessary products for Cubans, among them shoes, textiles, furniture and household ceramics.
