Tobacco control vs social justice

I quote: “Due primarily to a lack of local evidence on the harmful effects of smoking.” Excuse me? Does the mountain of foreign medical evidence count for nothing? A wiser person than me observed that while only fools learn from their own mistakes, a clever person learns from the mistakes of others.

That smoking is harmful does not need to be proven again under the “unique” (cough) circumstances of Indonesia. Farmers’ welfare? It is rubbish. The number of farmers whose main income is tobacco is less than the number of people who die every year from smoking the stuff. Most of the farming jobs are part time or itinerant. Your dissertation better be better than this half smoked nebulous cloud of ideas.
